Mr. Bernard M. Bienkowski, 76, of Schuyler, passed away on Monday July 29, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his loving family by his side. Bernard was born in Schuyler, NY on May 27, 1937, the son of Frank and Lottie (Kaminska) Bienkowski and received his education locally. On June 14, 1958, Bernard married Dorothy G. Richmond at St. Joseph's Church in Utica. As a young man, Bernard worked on the family farm, later at Durr Packing and for 33 years with Utica Cutlery Company until his retirement. Bernard enjoyed four wheeling, hunting, fishing and camping. He could often be found in his favorite place, his garage, where he would enjoy drinking his warm Genesee beer. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Bienkowski is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy; three sons, Bernard J. Bienkowski of Dolgeville, James Bienkowski of Whitesboro and Donald Bienkowski and Katrina Sierak of Schuyler; seven grandchildren, Richelle, Nichole, Megan, William, Andrew, Jaimi and Cassandra; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella and Henry Mankouski of Forestport and Jessie and Ron Williams of Newport; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Dorothy Bienkowski of Utica and Leo and Pat Bienkowski of Herkimer, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Jacqueline; a grandson, Justin; three sisters, Helen Romanick, Eugenia Mitrowski and Anna Sroka and two brothers, Edward Bienkowski and Stephen Bienkowski. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family, at their home at 154 Bowie Rd. in Schuyler throughout the day on Thursday August 1, to celebrate Bernard's life. Mr. Bienkowski's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, ICU and the 3rd floor for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Bernard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
