Philip R. Sinker, 69, of North Utica passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Philip was born in Utica on August 18, 1943, the son of the late Philip H. and Charlotte (Whitworth) Sinker. He received his education in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 28, 1969 at St. Peter's Church, North Utica, Philip was united in marriage to Linda Caryl, a blessed union of 44 years. For 36 years until his retirement in 1999, Philip was employed with Oneida County Department of Public Works in Barneveld. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Philip was an avid Yankee Fan and in his spare time enjoyed woodworking. Philip is survived by his wife, Linda, two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Denise Sinker Jr., Clay, NY and Jason and Kassandra Sinker, Old Forge, NY, three grandchildren, Alyssa and Katie Sinker, Clay, NY and Max Sinker, Old Forge, NY, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and William Christiansen, Deerfield, and Linda and Roger Nowak, Depew, NY, an aunt and uncle, Flori and James Scarchilli, Utica, a brother-in-law, Dennis Caryl, Utica and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his feline companion, Kehrli. Philip was predeceased by a brother, William Sinker. Mr. Sinker's funeral will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 12:00 from St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus & Casimir Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Philip's memory.
