Janet M Laramie, 80, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 after a brief illness. Janet was born in Utica, NY, the daughter of George and Loretta Middel McNeil. She graduated from UFA and started work soon after at New York Telephone. She subsequently worked at Fleet Bank and later AFSA. Janet met the love of her life, William (Bill) Laramie and they married on September 29, 1956. In 1960 they were blessed with their son Michael, who completed their lives. Unfortunately, Bill passed away in 1992 followed by Mike in 2002. Losing the most important people in her life brought Janet to art, and she painted her feelings though several mediums and showed great talent. Janet leaves her adored nieces and nephews: Kip Wagner, Kathy Martin, Pam Wagner, David and John McNeil, Doug and Jeff McNeil, Debbie Roberts, Christine Berdel & Donna Graves. She also leaves many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews, all of whom were close to her heart. She leaves 2 sisters-in-law, Eleanor McNeil and Diane McNeil and other members of the McNeil and Laramie families. Special mention is made of Debbie Bythewood, who Janet lovingly referred to as her “extra niece”. In addition to her husband and son, she was predeceased by sisters, Audrey Wagner, Dorothy McNeil and Shirley Gaspa and brothers Raymond and Paul McNeil. Janet was a wonderfully friendly woman who was beloved by all. She had friendships too numerous to mention and everyone was special to her in an unique way. Zach, Lexie and Timmy, her beloved great grands, send special love to their “Nonni CooCoo”. They will miss her dearly. Mrs. Laramie's funeral will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 from St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the mass. Those so wishing may make donations to the Mother Marianne West Side Soup Kitchen in Janet's memory.
