Obituary of Kathleen Tope Corsette

Mrs. Kathleen (Kay) Tope Corsette, 89, of Utica passed away on Monday April 1, 2013 at the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton with her loving son and daughter-in-law by her side. Kathleen was born in Jackson, Ohio on July 10, 1923 the daughter of Roy L. and Lillie (Harper) Tope and was a graduate of Midway High School in Sedalia, Ohio, class of 1941. On May 24, 1942 Kathleen married James H. Marrah in the Methodist Church in Sedalia, Ohio. Mr. Marrah was killed on August 2, 1942, during World War II over the Poliste Oil Raids while serving as a pilot aboard a B-24 bomber for which he received several Air Force awards and citations. On June 27, 1945, Kathleen was united in marriage with Clifford J. Corsette, in her parents' home in Ranger, OH, a devoted union of 39 years, until Clifford's death on July 24, 1984. At one time Kay was employed with General Electric Company and for 23 years, as a LPN and Health Coordinator with St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center, retiring in 1986. Kay was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Whitesboro and former Whitesboro Methodist Church. She was also a member of VFW Post 7393 Ladies Auxiliary in NY Mills, American Legion Whitestown Post 1113 Ladies Auxiliary and was a former director and Hall of Fame member of the Utica Woman's Bowling Association where she held several high averages. Mrs. Corsette is survived by her son, Douglas Corsette of Utica; Daughter-in-law, Darla Corsette of Whitesboro; four cherished grandchildren, Dana Marie Lauria and her husband Jeff, David Eric Corsette and his wife Christina, DJ Corsette and Matthew Corsette; four adored great grandchildren, Brandon and Chelsea Lauria and Morgan and David John Corsette; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Raymond Tope of Ohio and James and Barbara Tope of Ohio; a special niece, Terry Romano as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David Corsette. Mrs. Corsette's funeral will be held on Saturday April 6, , 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's memory would be appreciated to Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 8595 Westmoreland Rd., Whitesboro, NY 13492
