Mrs. Shirley A. Bowen, 76, of Schuyler, passed away on Friday March 22, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Shirley was born in Utica on May 12, 1936, the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Marsden) Morgan. She was raised locally and was a graduate of Sauquoit High School. On January 20, 1983, Shirley married Richard L. Bowen. For many years until her retirement, she was employed with Teals Trucking Company. Shirley enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and was a bingo enthusiast. Mrs. Bowen is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Potasiewicz of Coldbrook, NY, Ralph and Shirley Potasiewicz of Coldbrook, NY and Kevin and Linda Potasiewicz of VT; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Paul McBee of Utica and Tammy and Dan McCarthy of Deerfield; 8 cherished grandchildren, Kendra, Jack, Adam, Luke, Paul, Jr., Brandon, Austin and Hannah and one sister Nancy Gelfuso of Sauquoit. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Kinney. Mrs. Bowen's funeral will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A Spring interment will be held in West Schuyler Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Mrs. Bowen's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Toby Taylor as well as to Diane and Lori at Dr. Taylor's office for the wonderful care and compassion given to Shirley.
