Obituary of Mary T. Johnson
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Theresa Johnson, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away surrounded by love. Mary was born on March 28, 1919, one of five children to Ladislaus (Walter) and Aniela (Chonawiec) Kaminski. As a child Mary went to Holy Trinity School. In 1937 she was married to Charles H. Johnson, who died in 1967. After the birth of her six children and the death of her husband, Mary worked for forty years at Blessed Sacrament Rectory. Mary was an amazing mother, an extraordinary cook, an adoring grandmother, a good neighbor and a true friend. She was the most gracious lady. Anyone at anytime who stopped by her home was welcomed warmly, fed to excess and given her absolute undivided attention. Until she reached her late eighties Mary enjoyed excellent health. As her health declined she was appreciative of the care she was given and never complained. As her illness progressed she became more and more uncomfortable and less afraid of what lay ahead. She appreciated the care and attention of the Visiting Nurses especially Natalie, Catherine and Darlene. Mary had great faith, she was never without her rosary. She prayed constantly for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and any friends who were sick or had special needs. She was comforted by frequent visits from Sister Catherine Croghan who brought her communion and always stayed to visit. We know Mom was greeted in heaven by our father, her children Charles and Rose Marie, her sisters Sally Digilio and Frances Rys, her brother Walter Kaminski, son-in-law George Lein, brothers-in-law Tony Digilio, Benny Morelli and Mike Rys all of whom predeceased her. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Catherine, who was her devoted caregiver; her son Robert J.; Patricia Murdock (Dave); Mary T. Lein; daughter-in-law Rosemarie Johnson; her most special grandchildren Mary Catherine Warren (Ken), Mark Johnson, Mary Estelle May, Kimberly Murdock-Wessinger (Ed), Christopher Lein (Patty) and Kristen Skobla (Mike); four great grandchildren who brought so much joy to her life Zachary Murdock-Wessinger, Izabella, Christopher and Harper Lein., her sister Helen Morelli, sister-in-law Gladys Kaminski, and two very special nieces Elizabeth Morelli and Erin Abrams who were always there for their Aunt Mary. Among her close relatives and friends she leaves numerous nieces and nephews, her friends Nonnie and Nancy Czebeniak, Donna Speciale and the Friday night crew, Mary Kate Rinko, Karen Sikora and Serena Scholefield. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Irene of Hospice and Palliative Care for her presence in the home at the time of Mary's passing. Calling hours will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and family are invited to attend Mary's Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph-St. Patrick Church on Monday March 18, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Diabetes Association in Mary's memory.
