Nelson E. Leigh, Sr., 56, of Forestport, passed away unexpectedly, Friday evening, February 8, 2013 at his home. Nelson was born in Utica, NY on June 10, 1956, the son of Nelson R. and Pauline L. (Mosher (Bacon)) Leigh. He was raised and educated locally. Nelson had been employed with Hubbel's Galvanizing in Whitesboro. He was of the Protestant faith. Nelson is survived by his spiritual companion, Susan Wilcox, Forestport; a daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Carl Trask, Ilion; a son, Daniel Leigh, Herkimer; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Cole, Austin, Blake, D.J., Courtney, and Eric; four sisters, Linda Boone, VA, Julie Podagrosi, Whitesboro, Faith Vandergrift, Oswego, Bonnie Shipman, GA; two brothers, David Leigh, Syracuse, Monte Leigh, Whitesboro; 23 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Nelson, Jr. and his mother and stepfather, Pauline and Charles Bacon. Mr. Leigh's funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Gray, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday evening, from 6 - 8 pm.
