Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CLINTON - Doris Marie (Granville) Comstock, 85, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, May 30, 2017, following a brief stay at Lutheran Care in Clinton, NY.
Doris was born in Rochester on May 27, 1932, the daughter of Beulah Granville. She was raised and educated in Rochester, graduating from Catholic Business School.
Doris met her husband Claude “Cal” F. Comstock, Jr., in Alexandria Bay, NY in 1951, while he was in the Air Force. Doris and Cal were married on December 5, 1953, in Rochester, NY. They were happily married for nearly 54 years until his death on November 2, 2007.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Cynthia A. Comstock of Utica, NY; and her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin M. and Cynthia L. Comstock and grandson, J.D., of Virginia Beach, VA. Doris is also survived by her sister and her brother-in-law, Colleen and Archie of MacMillan, Rochester, NY; her brother and her sister-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Granville, of Rochester, NY; as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Beulah Granville and her husband, Claude F. Comstock, Jr.
Doris was a working mom, with her own career, before that became the norm. Throughout her life, while raising her children, Doris worked full-time, first at Mohawk Airlines, then at Allegheny Airlines, and lastly for approximately 30 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, retiring from the Federal Reserve at age 70 after many years of dedicated and faithful, and public service. Doris was a member of the Skenandoah Country Club. Raised in the Catholic faith, she attended Catholic churches throughout her life.
Doris devoted her life to her children, family, and friends. She deeply loved her family and friends, and it was her passion to spend time with them, especially at the Spohn’s camp on Otter Lake with Patricia and John Spohn. Doris had a wonderful smile, gentle warmth, steadfast kindness, unending loyalty, and compassion to family and friends. It was through her marriage; she gained lifelong friends, Patricia Spohn and John Allen and remained so for over 50 years. All of her qualities touched anyone who met Doris, including her warm, generous and caring character. She was a loving human being.
Doris’ funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 1 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 12 – 1 pm, prior to the service. Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton, immediately thereafter.
Doris’ family extends its very special thanks to the staff at Lutheran Care for the care and compassion shown to both Doris and her family, during her brief stay there.
