Mr. Richard "Dick" G. Tobin, 69, of Utica, passed away on Thursday January 24, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica with his loving family by his side. Richard was born in Utica on June 3, 1943 the son of Frank and Anne (Hargreaves) Tobin. He was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On April 18, 1970, Dick married Mary "Molly" Seemann at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. A well respected businessman, Dick began his career with his uncle Ray Tobin at Tobin Oldsmobile, later at NJ Currie Oldsmobile where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and through hard work and dedication, fulfilled his dream of owning his own automobile dealership, Tobin Chrysler Dodge Saab, Inc. in Clinton, retiring in 2005. Dick was a parishioner of the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills, past president and treasurer of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and a member of Knight of Columbus Utica Council 189. He also served as a board member of the Chrysler Advertising Agency and Vice President of the Dodge Advertising Agency. Dick enjoyed genealogy, antique cars, was a history buff and loved spending time with his family at his camp in the Adirondacks. Mr. Tobin is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Molly; three daughters, Colleen and Anthony Servadio of New Hartford, Kathleen and Robert Shevlin of Utica and Erin and Joseph Pratt of Utica; two adored grandchildren, Alex Shevlin and Kayleigh Pratt; two step grandsons, Anthony and Jon Servadio and their families; a sister-in-law, Stella Tobin of Utica; brother-in-law, Paul West, Sr., of Whitesboro; and his in-laws, Sr. Ann Monica, O.P. of Mont Clair, NJ and William and Patricia Seemann of Tampa, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Rita West and brother, James F. Tobin. Mr. Tobin's funeral will be held on Monday January 28, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 12:00 noon at the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Rescue Mission of Utica 212 Rutger St., Utica NY 13501 or Historic Old St. John's Church Food Pantry 240 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501 in Dick's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mr. Tobin's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses in the ER at St. Elizabeth Medical Center as well as the staff of the ICU especially Kyle and Stephanie for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Dick. A special thanks to Dr. Brownstein and Dr. Patel for the care you provided over the years.
