Thomas F. Moffitt, 77, of Clinton passed away January 12,2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Tom was born in Syracuse, NY on March 4,1935, the son of John and Catherine (Healey) Moffitt. He was raised and educated in Syracuse, where he graduated from St. Anthony's School. He just celebrated his 60th class reunion. Tom furthered his education at St. Bernard's Seminary , Rochester, NY. On August 18,1979 Tom was married to Karen McCabe. Tom was employed with New York Mills School as a guidance counselor, retiring in 2002. He had previously been employed at Bishop Grimes School , Syracuse, and Waterville Central School. Tom was a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton, a past member of the Clinton Kiwanis Club, a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Assoc., the Oneida-Herkimer County Retired Teachers Assoc., and the CNY Parkinson's Assoc.. Tom is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter and son-in-law, Annemarie and Kenneth J. Spaven of Westmoreland; one sister, Sr. Maureen Moffitt, CSJ. of Albany, NY., and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents , his in-laws, and a brother, John Moffitt. Mr. Moffitt's funeral will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Clinton, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Burial and Committal will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row ,Clinton will be from 4:00 till 7:00 PM Tuesday evening. Donations in Tom's memory would be appreciated to CNY Parkinson's Association or to the Clinton Fire Department.
