UTICA - Charles (Chick) F. Burton, 82, of Utica, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Charles was born October 29, 1934, in Utica, the son of H. Palmer and Harriet (Guilliaume) Burton. He was raised and educated locally and after graduating high school, went on to serve his country with the US Army, and later with the US Airforce Reserves. He was employed NY Telephone in Utica. Charles was a member of the Elk's Lodge #33, Utica; the VFW Post # 6001, Yorkville; Telephone Pioneers; Boonville Rod and Gun Club; and the Optimists, Whitesboro. Chick was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and golfing. n He enjoyed playing Pitch at the Elk's Lodge and was an avid Boston Red Sox and NY Giants Fan. Above all, Chick was a devoted father and family man. Charles is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Evans, Utica, Shelli Stys, Cicero; two great-grandsons, Devin and Damian McCovery; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Patricia Burton, Missouri, John and Debra Burton, Camden; a special friend, Dolores Ptak, Utica; and his hunting buddies, Timmy and Jonesy. He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Evans; a sister, Barbara Leonard, and a brother, James Burton. Mr. Burton's funeral will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, Wednesday evening, from 4 - 8 pm.
