Obituary of Mary Jane Agan

Mary Jane Agan, 93, of Clark Mills, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 after a brief illness. Jane was born in Utica on May 6, 1919, the daughter of John F. and Ada (Leach) Manley. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Clinton Central High School, Class of 1938. On April 16, 1955, Jane married Joseph M. Agan at the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Mr. Agan passed away in 1986. Jane had been employed as a waitress with both Dibble's Inn and with Trinkaus Manor. She later went on to work as the cafeteria cook at Utica Mutual Insurance Company, until her retirement in 1984. Jane was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and their Alter Rosary Society in Clark Mills. She was also a member of the Clark Mills American Legion Post # 26, Ladies Auxiliary. Jane will be forever remembered as being strong and independent, as well as being a generous and selfless woman, who was very devoted to her family. Jane is survived by a sister, Anne Schieferstine, Oneida; a nephew, Martin Schieferstine, Florida; three nieces and a spouse, Mary and Tom Patell, Mannsville, Margaret Schieferstine, Cohoes, Marie Jones, Oneida; two great nieces and a great nephew, Sara Jones, Alexis Patell, and Nicholas Patell. Besides her husband, Jane is predeceased by a brother-in-law, William Schieferstine, and a nephew, William Jones. Mrs. Agan's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Friday evening from 4 - 7 pm. The Clark Mills American Legion Post #26, Ladies Auxiliary will conduct their service at 6:30 pm. Those wishing may donate to COCVAC, to the Clark Mills Fire Dept., or to the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26, Ladies Auxiliary in Jane's memory.
