Obituary of Esther J. Green
Please share a memory of Esther to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Esther J. Green, 64, of Rome passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. Esther was born in Utica on November 15, 1947 a daughter of John W. and Marjorie (O'Dowd) Stephens. She was a graduate of Waterville Central High School and Morrisville College. For many years until her retirement in 2005 Esther was employed with Conrail. She was of the Catholic Faith. Esther had many interests. She was an avid reader historical enthusiast, loyal Yankee fan who loved music, dancing and traveling. Esther enjoyed spending her free time doing arts and crafts and making afghans and blankets for cherished family and friends. Family was the center of her life. Esther attended all games and concerts and was a devoted Pop Warner booster, fundraiser, and dedicated supporter. She was a "well known" and respected fan to her children, grandchildren and all her children's friends. Esther had a wonderful sense of humor that uplifted others, never at their own expense. Her home was always a shelter for family and friends as a loving, warm and caring place to eat and lay their heads. She especially loved the family animals. Holidays were always special to our Mom, as she would whip up a feast, organize the seating arrangements, and proceed to watch her family enjoy themselves. She took special care to accomodate dietary preferences for the family and still provide a fulfilling meal. Esther is survived by her four children and their companions, Jessica Green and Melissa Paciello, Rome, Jamie Green and Stacey Green-Hutchinson, Whitesboro, Jonathan Green and Becky Lynch, Rome, and Kevin Green and Angela Aguiar, New Hartford, eight grandchildren, Kobe, Lexi, Aidan, Jordan, Shane, Dominic, Ava and Trevor and one sister, Joan Stephens, Middlebury, VT. She is also survived by several close friends, especially Dorothea and Mary Lou, and several nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, William J. Stephens. A funeral service for Mrs. Green will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 1-3. Those so wishing may make donations to the Notre Dame Baseball Program. Esther Jane Green will be remembered as a loving, generous, optimistic mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to so many. She loved her children, sister, grandchildren and family unconditionally. We love you Mom.
