Cindy and family - I just read your father's obituary. He was an incredible man. He packed a lot of life in his 98 years. I am sure he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Cindy, please call me when you get back to Albany. We'll do something together when you feel up to it. Love, Rose

I first met this thoroughly pleasant and decent gentleman when he served on the board of the Oneida County Historical Society back in the 1980s and 90s when we were seeking, finding, and renovating new quarters. Bob was involved in the whole process and one could not ask for a more dedicated and enthusiastic worker. His experience on the boards of Historic Old St. John's and the CAB were especially valuable. But his greatest contribution may have been his insistence that the former Christian Science Church "have adequate mechanicals" (electric service, etc.) for future renovations and expansion. He was also totally impartial in the selection of whatever was best in the way of equipment; no "politics" entered into his thinking. I always thought the society should have named the mechanical room in his honor; maybe it's not too late. yyYIt always amused us that he said he did his best thinking on weekends on his tractor up north. Whatever his system, he always had wise guidance to offer. He will be missed by many.

Bob & Jon, you probably don't remember me, it has been around 70 years since I knew you from Petrie St. in Little Falls. I was saddened to hear of your Dad's death, he and your mother were friends of my Mom & Dad. There are still shrubs growing at their gravesite that I purchased with the gift your Mom & Dad sent. Once again, I am sorry for your loss. Roy Van Slyke Jr.

Mr. Payne will be greatly missed by me and my family. Not to see him outside behind our house will be a great loss. One of my favorite memories of Mr. Payne would be the day my son had to learn how to tie a tie for school when he was attending Notre Dame, and I was just lost, and didn't know where to turn, so my son and I waited in his drive way for him and waited for him to come home from work and I asked him if he could teach my son Mark how to tie his tie, and he was so patient with my son and me, and showed him over and over again how to tie it, and he said you better watch closely because you might have to do this one day, ha ha ha.. so he taught me as well. Everytime my son ties a tie or I do, I will always think of Mr. Payne. He was a good man with a Huge Heart, and a true Gentleman. He will be missed by many including me and my family. My Condolences to you and your Family, Lori Coppola and the Coppola Family.
