Mr. John M. Oreto, 93, a resident of The Pines At Utica nursing home, formerly of N. Utica and New Port Richey, FL passed away on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at the nursing home. John was born in Washington DC on October 3, 1919 the son of Rutilio and Maria (LoShiuto) Oreto and received his education in Washington. John enlisted in the US Army Air Corps where he honorably served his country during WW II as a radio technician aboard a B52 bomber. He continued his service in the US Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1966 after a distinguished 20 year career. On February 15, 1947, in Washington, DC, John married Adelaide Gray. Adelaide passed away in 1969. On August 29, 1991 he married Marylyn Mazur. Marylyn passed away in 1998. He was a member of American Legion Post 79 in New Port Richey, Fl and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Oreto is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stephen Mazza of N. Utica; two step-daughters, Dorinda Cifelli and her husband Daniel and Donna Sessa all New Port Richey, FL; 2 grandchildren, John Mazza and Stephanie Fraino and her husband John; 3 step grandchildren Renee Olbruck, Derek Dominion and Jason Dominion; 6 great grandchildren, Stephen Mazza, Anthony Mazza, Johnny Mazza, Mary Mazza, Mia Fraino and Gianna Fraino as well as 3 step great grandchildren; 4 nieces, Judy Shore, Mary Lou D'Altorio, Pamela Oreto Cushenam and Winnie Inscoe and 3 nephews, Michael Oreto, Jason Oreto and Angelo Oreto. He was predeceased by a sister, Grace Valencia, 3 brothers, Joseph Oreto Leonard Oreto and Frank Oreto and 2 nephews, Anthony J. Oreto and Charles Oreto Mr. Oreto funeral will be held on Sunday October 28, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His burial with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
