Mr. William F. Sullivan, 91, a resident of Whitesboro and Delmar, NY passed away October 24, 2012 at the Hospice Inn in Albany, NY. William was born in Utica on August 27, 1921, the son of Frank J. and Elizabeth M. (Fahey) Sullivan. He received his education in Utica having graduated from Seymour School in North Utica and Utica Free Academy. William enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and served aboard a destroyer, the USS Claxton in both the European and Pacific Theaters of Operation. Upon his honorable discharge from the service in December 1945, William returned to Utica. In 1947, William married Helen I. Smith of NY Mills and the coupled were blessed with one daughter, Karen. Helen passed away February 26, 1975 after 28 years of marriage. In 1982, William married Vincenza (Nancy) DeMarche. Vincenza passed away in 2009. For 31 years, William was employed with Bendix Corp. in Utica, retiring in 1983. He was a member of American Legion post 1113, Whitesboro, Oneida County Voitrues 92, Forty and Eight, Utica Maennerchor in Marcy, and a life member of VFW Malson Jones Post 7393 in NY Mills as well as a life member of the Elks Utica Lodge #33. He was also a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the National Association of Destroyer Veterans and a plank owner of the US Navy Memorial. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his daughter, Karen; two grandchildren Tara Mittan and Andrew Mittan and a great grand daughter, Livia Mittan Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan's funeral will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Whitesboro where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery in Whitesboro. There are no calling hours.
