Obituary of John T. Coughlin

John (Jack) T. Coughlin, 84, of Lake Moraine Rd., Hamilton, formerly of Utica, passed away on July 13, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center in New Hartford. Jack was born in Utica, NY on December 1, 1927, the son of John T. and Kathryn (Driscol) Coughlin. He was raised and educated in the Whitesboro school system. Jack proudly served in the United States Navy during WWll. He was married to Jeanette Wojcicki. Jeanette died in 1988. On June 3, 1972 in Marcy Jack was married to Barbara Donato. Jack was employed with General Electric until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the plumbers and steamfitters Local Union 112 and a former member of the International Assoc. of machinists and aerospace workers. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Florida. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hamilton, NY. Jack was very proud of his Irish Heritage. You could often hear his Irish tunes playing in the background. There was no other ball team to cheer for, but the Boston Red Sox. Jack would often be seen traveling the shores of Lake Moraine on his party barge. Jack is survived by his wife; Barbara, of Hamilton, one daughter, Jamie Coughlin and Billy of Frankfort, NY; one son, John T. Coughlin lll and his wife, Charlene, of Yorkville; one stepson, John Donato and his wife, Frances, of Utica; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, a special niece, Karen Lebidnik and her husband, David; and a brother and sister in law, Harold and Annette Moore, of Utica. Jack was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth and Helen, and a brother, Andrew. Jack's funeral will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 9:45 AM from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, and at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Hamilton, NY, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hamilton, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Monday evening, from 4 - 7 PM. Those wishing may donate to the Madison or the Hamilton Fire Departments in Jack's memory. The family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Drs. Jerry Sloan and Mark Blaker; to the 6th floor nursing staff of Faxton-St.Luke's Healthcare; and to the nurses and staff of the Harding Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to Jack. Also a special thanks to the Madison and Hamilton Fire Depts., as well as to Rick Garton, and Tom and Kim Kilts their care and many kindnesses to Jack and his family.
