Obituary of John R. O'Donnell

Mr. John (Jack) R. O'Donnell, 61, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly of Wednesday July 11, 2012 at his home. Jack was born in Utica on March 14, 1951 the son of Charles R. and Ethel F. (Bechard) O'Donnell. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Jack honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. For 20 years, he was employed with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority until his retirement earlier this year. Jack was a member of the Fur, Fin and Feather Club, VFW and was a huge Nascar enthusiast. He was of the Catholic Faith. Mr. O'Donnell is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Skip) and Joanie O'Donnell of Utica; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristy Jean and Eric Denis of Tupper Lake, NY; three grandchildren, Kristen, Hayley and Charlie; a nephew, Charles (Chip) O'Donnell of Marcy; a niece, Stacey Ann Howe and her husband Christopher of Long Lake, NY and a great niece, Karmen Howe; Also surviving is Faith Ann Helmes who was like a daughter to Jack as well as Faith's husband John and their children, Chantalle, Kalab, Jacab and Kagan. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Long Lake Cemetery in Long Lake, NY. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday (today) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
