Evelyn M. Danaher, 97, of the Lutheran Home and formerly of Clinton St., Whitesboro passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. Evelyn was born in Utica on January 9, 1920 a daughter of Frank and Lilly (Morey) Washburn. In Utica on April 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to John (Dick) Danaher a blessed union of 33 years until his death on July 11, 1984. For many years Evelyn was employed with the General Electric Co. The most important thing in life to Evelyn was family and especially when she got to babysit for them. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Owens of Yorkville, 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Stomierowski and husband, Scott of TX and Daniel Owens and wife, Jessica of Chittenango, NY, 5 great grandchildren, Robert and William Stomierowski of TX and Abigail, Jacob and Benjamin Owens of Chittenango, a special niece, Lorraine Matys of Whitesboro and a former son-in-law, Phil and Judy Owens of Forestport. Evelyn was predeceased by 3 sisters, Mable Murphy, Dorothy Small and Ruth Reilly and 5 brothers, Herman, Ernest, Melvin, Kenny and Robert Washburn. Mrs. Danaher's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 12:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 12:00. Those so wishing may make donations to the Rescue Mission in Evelyn's memory.
