Charles L. Buell, 78, of Clinton, NY, formerly of Schuyler Lake, NY, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home after a long illness. Charles was born August 16, 1933 in Richfield, NY, the son of Kenneth and Catherine (Hadsell) Buell. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs, NY. On July 29, 1951, Charles married Joyce Ann Washburn in Richfield Springs. He was employed with Chicago Pneumatic in Frankfort for 40 years until his retirement in 1995. Charles was a member of the Universalist Church in Schuyler Lake, NY. He was a former Richfield Springs school board member as well as past president; a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop Leader; superintendent of the Universalist Church Sunday School; President of the Schuyler Lake Cemetery Association; and a member of the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department for many years serving as Treasurer. He also enjoyed and was skilled at marquetry and was an avid collector of coins and of shot glasses throughout the world. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Buell, Clinton; five children, Gloria (and Ronald) Williamson, OR, Dale (and Susan) Buell, Holland Patent, NY, Valeria (and Allan) Fassett, FL, Scott (and Grace) Buell, CA, Patti Hill, Clinton; Eight cherished grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (and Joan) Buell, FL; four sisters, Eleanor (and Frank) Madaras, Richfield Springs, Esther Ludemann, Schuyler Lake, Lela Reed, Fly Creek, Cathy (and Alex) Melniczenko, Cooperstown; sisters-in-law, Loretta Buell, Richfield Springs, Diane Buell, NC, Deborah Petkewec, Springfield Center. He is predeceased by a great grandson, Elias; two brothers, Elmer "Bud" Buell and Kenneth Buell; and one sister, Janice Truex. A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Buell on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Stone Church in Schuyler Lake NY. Interment in Schuyler Lake Cemetery will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to the church for memorial visitation from 10 - 11 am prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, NY. Those wishing may donate to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 in Charlie's memory.
