Julia A. Kornutiak, 32, of Herkimer passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Julia was born in Ilion, NY on October 17, 1984, a daughter of Ellen Olson and Steven Kornutiak and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. Julia served in the Navy from 2004 to 2009. While in the Navy she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degree. She was currently employed with DFAS in Rome. In her spare time Julia always enjoyed volunteering at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society. Julia is survived by her mother, Ellen Olson, New Hartford, her father, Steven Kornutiak and Theo Leach, Ilion, her maternal grandmother, Lenora Olson, VA, two brothers, Steven Kornutiak and wife, Kate, CA and Daniel Kornutiak, Ilion, a sister, Angelina Sanders and husband, Jeremy, ME, two nephews, Cillian Kornutiak and Vincent Kornutiak, step-father, Patrick Perrone and many aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives. Julia was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Richard Olson and her paternal grandparents, Steven and Teresa Kornutiak. Calling hours for Julia will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2017 from 4-7 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica.
