Mr. Murray F. Grimmer, 82, of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday June 8, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Murray was born in Utica on July 27, 1929 the son of Gerald and Elizabeth (Murray) Grimmer. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy and attended MVCC. On June 7, 1952, Murray married Janet E. Huss at Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica, a loving union of 60 years. For over 40 years, Murray was employed with the Utica Observer Dispatch until his retirement. He was a devoted parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica. He enjoyed all sports, playing cards and was a big NY Yankees Fan. Mr. Grimmer is survived by his beloved wife Janet; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and John Renfrew of Yorkville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robin Grimmer of Largo, FL; five cherished grandchildren, Victoria Renfrew of Yorkville, Danielle Horton of Houston, TX, Jonathan Grimmer of Orlando, FL, Ryan Grimmer of Morena Valley, CA and Matthew Grimmer of Largo, FL; one brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Maureen Grimmer of Forestport and Kay Grimmer of New Hartford. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Riley and a brother, William Grimmer. Mr. Grimmer's funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday June 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. In keeping with Murray's wishes, there are no public calling hours.
