Geraldine "Jerry" M. Kain, 68, of Yorkville, formerly of Utica, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center after a brief illness, with her daughters by her side. Jerry was born in Utica, NY on October 27, 1943, the daughter of Albert and Sadie (Misiazek) Cousin. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica schools. On May 30, 1964, Jerry married Lawrence T. Kain in St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. Mr. Kain passed away in 2007. Jerry was a self employed, certified daycare provider for over 30 years, until her retirement. She enjoyed doing her word searches and watching news programs on TV. Jerry was of the Catholic faith. Jerry is survived by two daughters, Patricia Kain, and her companion, Ray Salanco, Frankfort, Kelley Kain-Schiffinger, Whitesboro; five grandchildren, Kristen, Gary, Nicholas, and Patrick Sutton, Tyler Kain-Schiffinger; four great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Dylan, Serenity, and Jackson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanor Scheidelman, Holland Patent, Florence and Michael Candella, Marcy; a sister-in-law and her husband, Kimberly and Jeffrey Coffey, Utica; a son-in-law, Shaun Schiffinger, Ilion; as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, Jerry is predeceased by two sons, Lawrence "Little Larry" Kain in 1976, Russell Kain in 2008, and an infant brother, Frederick Cousin. Mrs. Kain's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica, with Deacon Richard Prusko presiding. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 - 7 pm, prior to the funeral service. Those wishing may donate to the Children's Miracle Network in Jerry's memory. The family extends their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Mary Lynch, a nurse with Faxton-St. Luke's HCC for her care and compassion shown to both Jerry and her family, during her stay.
