Shirley Elizabeth (Hinkston) Grizwin, 90, died peacefully on June 1, 2012 with her loving daughters and granddaughter at her side after a long period of declining health. Shirley was born on September 18, 1921 in Utica, New York, the daughter of the late Sadie Hinkston and the sister of the late Jack Hinkston. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Paul F. Grizwin, in 2001. "Hink" graduated from St. Francis deSales High School and had a long and successful career as a bank teller with the Savings Bank of Utica. She was a devout Roman Catholic and devoted parishioner and active volunteer at the former Sacred Heart Church. Shirley was an avid golf partner with her husband and had many golf league friends. She loved sewing, knitting, home decorating, and trying out new recipes for family dinners. "Doo Doo" was an affectionate niece and cousin and a special aunt to her nephews John, Douglas (deceased), and Paul Hinkston. Shirley was a loving and sacrificing mother to her three girls, MaryGaye, Marsha and Dana. In addition to her daughters, she leaves behind sons-in-law Przemyslaw "Mac" Stopa and Michael K. Sheehy, a granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth and her husband Friedrich K. Moekel, and a soon-to-be born great grandchild. Mrs. Grizwin's funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
