William J. (Bill) Murphy, 85, of Marcy passed away at home on Monday May 21, 2012. William was born in Whitesboro on May 8, 1927, a son of George and Helen (Breidenbach) Murphy. He received his education in Whitesboro and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. William served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. At St. Anthony's Church, Utica on August 12, 1950 he married Gertrude Snyder. For many years until his retirement William was employed with the Oneida County Water Board. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. William is survived by his wife, Gertrude, a son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Diane Murphy, Marcy, a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and John Trinkaus, Marcy, three grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and Deanna Murphy, VA, Jason and Beth Trinkaus, Marcy and Andrea and Judd Mucitelli, Elmira, NY, three great grandchildren, Maggie, Erin and Ella and several nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by a sister, Helen Nicotera and two brothers, George and Robert Murphy. Mr. Murphy's funeral will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 at St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the Maynard Fire Department or Hospice and Palliative Care.
