Florence A. (Stefanovich) Raiano, 87, a resident of the Loretto Home of Utica, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care Center, New Hartford. Florence was born in Utica on December 23, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Louella JeanLouis. She was raised and educated in Utica. On May 29, 1942, Florence married Joseph Stefanovich. Mr. Stefanovich predeceased her. On April 10, 1965, Florence married Joseph Raiano. Mr. Raiano passed away in 2008. For many years, Florence was employed with Doe Skin Paper Makers, Utica. She later was employed with Jim Butler at his Newspaper Stand in the County Office Building in Utica. In her later years, Florence enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was of the Catholic faith. Florence is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Paul Mikus, Florida; three sons, Joseph Stefanovich, Oneida, Arthur Stefanovich, and William Stefanovich and his fiancée, Diane Crowley, Holland Patent; ten grandchildren, Dr. Paul Mikus, Florida, Jay Mikus, Syracuse, Sheri Mikus, Australia, Joe Stefanovich, Greg Stefanovich, Christopher Stefanovich, Chad Stefanovich, Malissa Stefanovich, William Stefanovich, Jr., Rochester, and Jennifer Stefanovich, Rochester; as well as by several great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Douglas Henderson, Florida. Florence is predeceased by two sisters, Emma Pula and Lillian Newhouse. Mrs. Raiano's funeral service will be held Wednesday evening, May 23, 2012, at 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Wednesday evening, from 5 - 7 pm, prior to the service. Those wishing may donate to the Alzheimer's Association in Florence's memory.
