Richard S. Conde, 82, of North Utica, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 in the comfort of his home, having his family with him. Richard was born August 31, 1929, in Trenton, NJ, the son of James and Jessie (Laurie) Conde. He was raised and educated in Utica and went on to graduate from Norwich University, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, in 1952. Richard served his country with the US Army, Signal Corps. during the Korean War. In 1956, he married Jane Hall in St. Patrick's Church, Utica. For many years, Richard was employed with General Electric in Utica. He later was employed by with Griffiss AFB in Rome. Even after his retirement, Richard found work in the Herkimer office of the College of St. Rose. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post #229, North Utica and a member of St. Mark's Church, North Utica. He was a published writer, and an avid NY Giants fan, who was especially happy seeing their last Superbowl victory. Richard especially loved Manchester, Vermont, where he had his second home. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Conde, N. Utica; his daughter, Gillian Conde, Rochester, his son, Richard Conde, Boston, MA; and cousins, Bill and Joanne Burns, Watertown, Chuck Mead, Florida, as well as several more cousins. Mr. Conde's funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon, May 16, 2012, at 12:30 pm, at St. Mark's Church, N. Utica where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, N. Utica, Wednesday morning, from 10 - 12, prior to the funeral. Those wishing may donate to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Richard's memory.
