Leo John Crane, Jr., 83, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Leo was born in Utica on September 5, 1928, the son of Leo J., Sr. and Catherine (Cunning) Crane. He was raised and educated in Clinton, graduating class of 1946. He went on to serve his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Eastern Breeders in Ithaca, until his retirement in 1990. Leo served on the Kirkland Town Board for a number of years. He was a member of Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232, Franklin Springs, and of Schilling-Burns-Young VFW Post #9591, Clinton. Leo also belonged to St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Leo is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Nancy Crane, Clinton; one niece and nephew-in-law, Kathleen and Kurt Bodmer, Clinton, three nephews and nieces-in-law, Edward and Christine Crane, Clinton, Matthew and Kyle Crane, Clinton, John and Colleen Crane, Clinton; as well as by three great nieces, two great nephews, and two great, great nephews. Mr. Crane's funeral will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church in Clinton where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Thursday evening, from 6 - 8 pm. Those wishing may offer Mass cards in Leo's memory.
