Obituary of Norma Jane Heiderich

Norma Jane Heiderich, of the Presbyterian Home and formerly of Utica, passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, on Sunday, April 22, 2012 surrounded by her loving Family. Norma was born on November 5, 1925. She was a daughter of James H. and Myrtle E. (Markes) Taylor. She was raised and educated locally in the Utica schools and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 10, 1950, Norma was joined in a blessed marriage with William J. Heiderich and on June 10, 2011 the couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, before Bill's passing on August 6, 2011. Norma was a loving wife and mother, raising three children. She was employed at Utica Cutlery Co., Cottonland and Genesee Uniform Shop, all of Utica, NY. Norma was a member and former secretary of the Opti-Mrs. Club of Utica, a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) of Utica and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. Mrs. Heiderich is survived by three children, a son Kurt Heiderich and his wife Deborah of Deerfield, a son Scott Heiderich of Utica and a daughter Kim Zeina and her husband Eddie of Oriskany. Norma also leaves seven grandchildren, Amy Barkett and her husband Anthony of Clinton, Christopher Heiderich of Herkimer, Erin Dixon and her fiancé William Shanley Jr. of Westmoreland, Renee Boyer and her husband Justin of Huntersville, NC, Jaclyn Hanifin and her husband Craig of Baldwinsville, Kevin Zeina of Syracuse and LeAnna Christiansen of Brooklyn. Norma is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, and her sisters-in law, Mrs. Frederick (Helen) Taylor of Cornwall, and Barbara Grimaldi and her husband Paul of Utica. She leaves a nephew William Taylor of Walden, NY and her nieces Lesli Anweiler of Marcy and Kelli Vance of Utica. Norma was predeceased by her husband Bill on August 6, 2011 and by her twin brother Frederick Taylor on September 22, 2002. Mrs. Heiderich's funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 8:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:00 from St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, Utica where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4-8. We would like to thank the staff at the Elm Unit of the Presbyterian Home for the loving care they gave to Norma.
