Mary J. Mooth, 96, formerly of Yorkville, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Home on April 6, 2012. Mary was born July 3, 1915 the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Sinker) Gutheinz and attended Utica Schools. On October 7, 1939, Mary married Arthur E. Mooth, a loving union of 42 years until Arthur's death on August 24, 1981. For many years, she was employed with the Utica Knitting Mills and later with General Electric Company. Mary was a member of PLAV Chapter 8, past vice-president of Jan Robak Post #8 and a member of the West Side Senior Center. She was also Deputy to the Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. Mary was famous with her friends and family for her cookie baking and crocheting afghans that she gave to all her relatives. Mrs. Mooth is survived by her niece and caregiver, Doris Deming of Clinton and her niece Lillian Fiore of Utica. Also surviving are 2 nephews, 1 niece and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Armand Mooth, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Blanche and Eugene Nicotera and Lillian and Robert Roberts and her aunt, Rosalie Bronga. Mrs. Mooth's funeral will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Her burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery in Yorkville. There are no calling hours. Mrs. Mooth's family wishes to thanks all those at the Lutheran Home, Maple View Unit who provided care and comfort the Mary.
