George J. Casaletta, 88 of N. Utica, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with his loving family at his side. George was born in Utica on March 22, 1923 the son of George J. and Genevieve (DeSimone) Casaletta Sr. George was raised and educated locally, and later served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. In 1947 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica, George was married to Eleanor (Liz) Lynch, the mother of his cherished daughters. Eleanor passed away in 1985. On July 2, 1960 in Marcy, NY , George was married to Lois Burton. Lois passed away in August 1983. For a number of years until his retirement in 1984, George was employed at Chicago-Pneumatic in Utica. He spent many a casual time tinkering in his garage on his cars. George was a very caring and thoughtful person, especially to his daughters and grandchildren. We love you and will forever miss you, Dad and Gramp! George is survived by his two daughter, Diane Schuff and her Partner, William Powers; and Susan M. Slocum and her husband Curt; his companion of over 20 years, Frances (Dolly) Richards; his four grandchildren, Yvonne(Mark) Peckham, David (Patty) Schuff, Ronald ( Dana) Sansone, Michael (Angie) Sansone and their families and one step sister Sara Ervin. George was also pre-deceased by a brother John Casaletta in 2009. Mr. Casaletta's funeral will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, N. Utica where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory would be appreciated to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Association.
