Carla J. Christman, 68, of N. Utica passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Carla was born in Cooperstown, NY on April 15, 1943. In Utica on June 15, 1959 Carla was united in marriage to Thomas J. Christman, Sr. Carla was a dedicated nurse having worked at GE, Broadacres, Valhaven, The Hunter House, The ARC and Dr. Haider-Shah. She enjoyed spending her free time sewing, knitting and crocheting. A fan of the outdoors, Carla loved gardening, snowmobiling and camping. Carla is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Thomas, four daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Louis Buttenschon, Utica, Barbara and Steven King, KY, Brenda and Richard Sents, Cassville, and Karen and Michael Bass, RI, a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carrie Christman, Jr., Chadwicks, she is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Carla was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Rutherford. Mrs. Christman's funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-6. A spring burial will take place in the Springfield Center Cemetery. The family would like to thank the 6th floor staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and Dr. Bhisham Garg for all the loving care given to Carla.
