Obituary of Jack G. Taylor

Mr. Jack G. Taylor, 75, residing in N. Utica with his lifelong companion and former wife, Gail Kratzenburg Swalgin, passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's healthcare in New Hartford. During Jack's illness and at the time of his passing, his devoted daughter Karie was by his side. Jack was born at his home in Deerfield, NY on October 2, 1936, the son of Hyzer and Bertha (Albison) Taylor and received his education in Whitesboro Schools. For 40 years until his retirement, he was employed with Divine Brothers in Utica. A true outdoorsman, Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the many years he spent at the family camp in Morehouse, NY. He was also a huge NY Giants fan. Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughter, Karie Lynn deSouza of N. Utica; son, William (B.T.) Taylor of Trenton; three cherished grandchildren, Geremias, Nikolina and Taylor; his step-mother, Sophie Phelps of Oriskany; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ethel and Jerome Alexander of Floyd, and Janice and Allen St. Germaine of Yorkville, Two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Hyzer and Shelva Taylor of Newport, Brian and Shirley Taylor of Morehouse and Kathy Taylor of Floyd; also surviving are lifelong friends, Gail Kratzenberg Swaglin of N. Utica and Leroy Goldwire of Utica and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Timothy Taylor, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law William and Norma Taylor and David Taylor, and son-in-law; Mika deSouza. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. N. Utica. A memorial service and celebration of Jack's life will be held on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the visitation, with Rev. Alan Bassette officiating. The family would like to thank all of their friends and family who have been so kind and supportive with their continual prayers during Jack's recent illness. Special thanks and appreciation for all the care given to Jack by the ICU nursing staff at St. Luke's Hospital, especially, Kimberly Taylor, Jolene and Janice.
