Barbara M. Courtade, 79, of Dominica Ct., N. Utica passed away October 29, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital with her daughters at her side. Barbara was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on August 26, 1932 the daughter of Michael and Martha (Fowles) Leach and received her education in Connecticut schools. On January 30, 1954 in Connecticut, Barbara was married to Frederic V. Courtade, Jr. Mr. Courtade died in 1997. As well as being a homemaker, Barbara was also employed at Faxton Hospital in Utica for a number of years. She was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Barbara is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law; Karen and Jack Seifert of New Hartford, and Colleen Courtade of Rochester, 4 grand children; Max and Amy Seifert of Rochester, Emmett Seifert and his fiancée, Elizabeth Ochoa, of New York City, Lillian Seifert and her fiancée, Nick Kehoe, of New Hartford, Frederic Courtade, IV and Brittany Manolescu of Utica, and 1 cherished great granddaughter; Sofia Seifert. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, 2 sons; Frederic (Rip) Courtade III in 2007 and Michael Courtade in 1971, and 1 brother; Edward Leach. Mrs. Courtade's funeral will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica with the Rev. Mark Pasik officiating. Her burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
