Obituary of Jean Domser Brown

Jean D. Brown, 84, of North Utica, went home to the Lord, on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family. Jean was born January 31, 1927 in Utica, the daughter of Ira and Louise (Dunbar) Domser. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Whitesboro High School. On July 13, 1947, Jean married Seymour William Brown in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Brown passed away in 1996. She was employed with Upstate Computer Center, retiring in 1981, but her occupation first and foremost was mother and grandmother. Jean was a Charter Member of the Maynard Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Beta Chi Theta Sorority, of the American Red Cross, the Altar Rosary Society, and Bible Study. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Jean is survived by four daughters, Wilma Jean and Daniel Bogan, Marcy, Marian and Joseph Gleba, Oriskany, Sandra Sheehan and partner, Mr. Sonny Sisk, Harpers Ferry, WV, Michelle Angel and C. Todd Symonds, Marcy; three sons, Scott and Elaine Brown, New Hartford, Daniel J. Brown and fiancée, Brenda Schafer, Rome, Timothy J. and Kathleen Brown (with whom Jean resided), Utica; twelve cherished grandchildren, Chad Bogan, Deanna Bogan Cobb, Carl Gleba, Mathew Sheehan, Jeffrey Sheehan, Melissa Symonds Harris, Jackie Symonds Mosher, Jacob Brown, Scott Brown, Sara Brown Dean, Timothy Brown, Jr., and Kaitlyn Brown, as well as by 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Irene Haracz, New Hartford; one brother, Dr. Ira L. and Betty Domser, N. Utica as well as by several nieces and nephews. Jean also leaves "Ketzel", her special feline companion. Jean is predeceased by a son, William Dean Brown, in 1963, a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Margaret Domser, sister-in-law, Esther Domser, brother-in-law, Walter Byrnes and Dorothy Byrnes. Mrs. Brown's Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 9:30 am at St. Peter's Church, N. Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the St. Peter's Church, Altar Rosary Society, N. Utica, in Jean's memory. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, 5th Floor and to our friends at the CNY DSO. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
