Ivan R. Woodward, 97, of New Hartford passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Ivan was born in Auburn, NY on June 15, 1914 the son of Raymond and Eva (Warrick) Woodward. In Utica on January 7, 1933 Ivan married Ethel Gilloren, a blessed union of 57 years until her death in 1990. For 38 years he was employed the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. retiring in 1975. Ivan was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica, the Mohawk Valley Firebirds, Niagara Mohawk Retirees and he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Ivan is survived by his 5 children and their spouses, Charles (Marion) Woodward, Sue (Richard) Wire, Barry Woodward, Linda (Ron) Coleman and Ronald (Patricia) Woodward, 8 grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, and Scott (Robyn) Woodward, Dan (Meg) and Maryrose McMann, Linda (Bill) Graves, Kelly Slowik, and Sarah (David) Woodward-Jones, and a sister, Dorothy (Stanley) Stevenson. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Ivan was predeceased by a son, John Woodward, 2 grandchildren, Michael McMann and Jan George, a sister, Marjorie York and a brother, Mahlon Woodward. Mr. Woodward's funeral will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 9:30 from Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clayville. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7.
