Edna C. Barlow, 86, of the Masonic Care Community and formerly of Deerfield passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Edna was born in Utica on August 5, 1924 a daughter of George and Hanora (Costello) Crandall. In Utica on May 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Russell W. Barlow, a blessed union of 60 years until his death on May 13, 2008. For many years until her retirement Edna was employed with the Mele Manufacturing Co in Utica. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica and a founding member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Aux. Edna is survived by her nine children and spouses, Jeffrey and Sylvia Barlow, Oneida, Chriselle Deignan, RI, Peter Barlow, VA, Matthew and Madeline Barlow, Utica, Michael Barlow, Durhamville, NY, Claudia and Patrick Nolan, Deerfield, Celeste and Roger DeCarlis, Utica, Cynthia and Robert Merritt, IA, and Clarice Horan, Deerfield, a sister, Norma Kirchner, NJ, and a sister-in-law, Eileen Barlow, Poland, NY. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by a sister, Sister Damien Marie Crandall. Mrs. Barlow's funeral will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, N. Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Dept. in Edna's memory.
