Catherine M. Dawes, 81, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, formerly of Clinton, passed away June 8, 2011 at the home with her family by her side. Catherine was born May 4, 1930 in Westmoreland, NY, the youngest daughter of Daniel and Helen (Kelly) Morrison. She was raised and educated in Westmoreland, graduating from Westmoreland High School, Class of 1948. On September 25, 1948, Catherine married Aubrey K. Dawes in Clark Mills, with whom she raised a family including seven children for 32 years until his passing in 1980. She was formerly employed with the Genesee Nursing Home and later with the Martin Luther Home. Catherine was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Catherine is survived by five daughters and their husbands, Cindy "Sis" (Ronnie) Goss, DeBary, FL, Glenda (George) Siller, Staten Island, NY, Patti (Dennis) Berger, Wilmington, NC, Mary (Dick) Caister, Clinton, NY, Laurie (Butch) Calhoun, Utica, NY; one son and his wife, Boy and Linda Dawes, Clinton, NY, as well as nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Morrison, Rome, Cindy Morrison, Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Catherine is predeceased by her son, Guy, in 2002, her great granddaughter, Melissa, and seven brothers and sisters. Mrs. Dawes' funeral will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 9:15 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, and at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to St. Mary's Cemetery Association in Catherine's memory. Catherine's family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY for the care and kindness shown to both Catherine and her family during her stay.
