John P. Fusco, 48, of Deerfield passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2011 with his loving family by his side. John was born in Albany, NY on June 13, 1962, the son of Theresa (Sanita) Fusco and the late Leonard Fusco. He was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College and Utica College. In 1988 at St. Peter's Church in North Utica, John was united in marriage to Valerie Demma. John was currently employed as a Deputy Sherriff with the Oneida County Sherriff's Office and was a member of the Warrants Unit, Sergeant of the Sherriff Civil Division, and the Central New York Fugitive Task Force. John was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. John always enjoyed running the Boilermaker for many years and also the Marine Corps Marathon. John is survived by his wife Valerie, their two daughters, Cassandra Fusco and Reanna Fusco, his mother, Theresa Fusco, Herkimer, his sister and brother-in-law, Terry Fusco-Chamberlain and husband Lloyd Chamberlain, Frankfort, mother and father-in-law, Richard and Toni Demma, FL, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lisa and Aaron Bogner, NC and their children, Jack, Anthony, Joe, and Jessica, and many aunts, uncles, and good friends. Mr. Fusco's funeral with full honors will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7.
