Marian E. Schleicher, 82, of Stittville,, formerly of VanDyke Rd., N. Utica, passed away April 17, 2011 at home. Marian was born in Utica on February 21, 1929, the daughter of George and Cecelia (Bauer) Weiss. On June 26, 1948 in St. Joseph's Church, Utica, Marian married Charles H. Schleicher. Mr. Schleicher passed away on October 24, 1989. Marian began her working career at West End Brewing Co., later working at Koehler's Restaurant, Van Tines Card Shop and lastly at Cards and Such Gift Store. She was a member of the Utica Maennerchor and their ladies chorus. the Deerfield Seniors and the North Utica Seniors. Marion was also a member of various card clubs, which she thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to every week. She was a member of the Stittville United Methodist Church. Marian is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Neil (Suds) Sutherland, Stittville, a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Kathy Schleicher, Utica , nine grandchildren, Sara (Jason) Allen, Amy Sutherland, Mark (Heather) Sutherland, Becky (Bill) McGough, Eric (Kirsty) Sutherland, Erik (Amy) Schleicher, Joanne (Ed) Weibel, William Schleicher and fiancée Alyssa DiDonato and Anna (Michael) Valinoti, ten great grandchildren, Filomena and Cecelia Allen, Zachery, Tyler and Misty McGough, Alexandra Sutherland, Shea and Sydney Schleicher and Elizabeth and Robert Weibel, a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Judy Weiss, a sister-in-law Marie Weiss and a special friend Sandy Skimurski. Marian was predeceased by a brother George Weiss. Mrs. Schleicher's funeral service will held on Tuesday (today) April 19, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home., 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday (today) prior to the service from 4 - 7. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., Stittville Volunteer Fire Department or the Stittville United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Kathy Smyth of Hospice and to Sara and Jason Allen and their two daughters for all the loving care they provided to Marian for the last several years.
