Gloria A. Brown, 59, of Clark Mills, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 after a courageous battle with a long illness at her home with her family by her side. Gloria was born in Utica on March 13, 1952, the daughter of the late William and June (Palmer) Maynard. She was raised and educated locally. In 1976, Gloria married Harold Brown in Utica. Mr. Brown passed away in 1981. Gloria was a self-employed home health provider. She was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Gloria was an avid supporter of the fight against breast cancer as well as all forms of cancer, being involved with the breast cancer walk and the Relay for Life. When relaxing, she enjoyed crocheting. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Gloria is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Julene and Jeffrey Steigelmann, PA, Kathleen and Michael Lytle, DE, Heather Crennan (and her fiance, Justin Godfrey), Hubbardsville, NY, June Brown, Clark Mills; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jeffrey, Kaleigh, Gillian, Emma, Lyndsey, and Brittney; one great grandson, Brayden. She is also survived by three brothers and a sister-in-law, Gordon and Jean Maynard, Rhode Island, Gary Maynard, Clark Mills, and William Maynard, Clark Mills; a sister, Billie Jo Maynard; a special aunt, Sally Graves, Utica and two dear friends, Doris Harf and William LaFleur. She is predeceased by a sister, Luann Maynard. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to your local Breast Cancer organization in Gloria's memory.
