John Lewis Sherwood, 79, a resident of the Pines at Utica, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. John was born in Massena, NY on August 25, 1931, the son of Harold and Maude (Levliette) Sherwood. He was raised and educated in Massena. After moving to the Utica area, John was employed with Nichols Department Store in New Hartford. He was of the Catholic faith. John is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah and Thomas French, Liverpool, NY, Cheryl Barnes, Massena, NY, Betsy Paul, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Brenda Sherwood, Clayville, Scott and Kathy Sherwood, Massena; a sister, Inez Harrington, Manlius; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Shirley Sherwood, Massena. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Renee Harrington. Besides his parents, John is predeceased by an infant brother, Harold Sherwood. Mr. Sherwood's funeral services are being held privately at the convenience of the family.
