Obituary of Darrell F. Stoquert

Mr. Darrell F. Stoquert, 70, affectionately known as "Roper" to his family and friends, passed away on Monday February 14, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Darrell was born in Utica on July 30, 1940 the son of George F. and Lottie (Coon) Stoquert. He was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On May 12, 1962, Darrell married Mary Beckingham. For 40 years, he was employed with Hostess/Wonder Bread Bakery retiring as shipping foreman. Darrell was an avid harness racing enthusiast who enjoyed spending time at Vernon Downs. He also enjoyed crossword and jumble puzzles and truly loved attending his grandchildren's activities. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Stoquert is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and John Dugan of Sherrill, NY; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Stoquert of Syracuse, Michael and Sarah Stoquert of Deerfield and Matthew and Maryellen Stoquert of Deerfield; 11 cherished grandchildren, Aaron Stoquert, Ryan Dugan, Nathan Dugan, Emily Dugan, David Stoquert, Jr., Justin Stoquert, Carson Stoquert, Austin Stoquert, Chase Stoquert, Jordan Stoquert and Kamdyn Stoquert; and many cousins in the Corning, NY area. He was predeceased by a sister Joyce Boehlert. Mr. Stoquert's funeral will be held on Friday February 18, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:30 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in Darrell's name, please consider the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department, 5476 Trenton Rd., Utica NY 13502. Mr. Stoquert's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department for the friendship and exceptional service you provided over the years. A special thank you to the staffs of the ER and ICU at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the wonderful care you provided to Darrell.
