Martin J. Seemann, 93, of New Hartford passed away on Thursday December 30, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his loving family by his side. Marty was born in Utica on August 9, 1917, the son of Andrew and Helene (Wohlfert) Seemann. He was raised in Utica and graduated from UFA in 1935. On April 18, 1942 Marty married Helen J. Zelno. They had a loving and devoted union of 32 years until Helen's untimely passing on December 2, 1973 at the age of 52. Marty was employed at the Savage Arms, and in 1946 formed the Seemann Amusement Co. with his wife. He was a founding member of St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. Marty loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his summers fishing on the St. Lawrence River and hunting for deer in the fall. Marty is survived by his son M. James Seemann of VT, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Thomas Kasky of New Hartford, cherished grandchildren Kathryn and Kristen Kasky who meant the world to him , and several nieces, nephews and close friends who were always there for him if he ever needed anything; something his family will always remember. Marty was predeceased by his brother Elmer A. Seemann in 1996. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 4, 2011, at 10:00 at St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. In keeping with Marty's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please consider a charity of your choice. Mr. Seemann's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare ICU and 5th floor for their wonderful care and compassion over the past week.
