Joseph J. "The Barber" Carucci, 96, a resident of the St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, formerly of Utica, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the home. Joseph was born in Utica on November 28, 1914, the son of Angelo and Donata DeMichele. He was raised and educated locally and went on to serve his country with the US Army during World War II. On October 10, 1967, Joseph married Sara Giglio in Utica and shared a union of over 43 years. He was a self-employed barber in the Utica area. Joseph was of the Catholic faith. Joseph is survived by his wife, Sara Carucci, Herkimer; a niece, Donna Larson, Florida; a nephew, Frank Bravo, North Carolina. He is predeceased by a sister, Donna Elbene. Mr. Carucci's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 am at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Entombment will follow. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica from 9:30 - 10:30 am Tuesday morning, prior to the funeral service.
