Miss Priscilla Kommer, 100, a resident of St. Joseph Nursing Home in Utica, formerly of Brinckerhoff Ave., passed away Sunday December 26, 2010 at the nursing home. Priscilla was born in Utica on May 21, 1910 the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Schug) Kommer. She was raised in Utica, attended Utica schools and was a graduate of the Eastman Kodak School in Rochester, NY. For many years, Priscilla was employed as a music teacher with the Utica School System. She was a member of Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, the Christ Child Society, Etui Club in Utica and was a past member of the Former St. Mary's Church in Utica. Priscilla's great love for music enabled her to graciously perform with the Utica Symphony Orchestra. Miss Kommer is survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sophie Mary Sterner and Gertrude Bogan. Miss Kommer's funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday December 28, 2010 at 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Utica where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 at the nursing home prior to the funeral mass.
