Mrs. Rose (Ceil) Cowburn, 98, a resident of the Lutheran Care Assisted Living Facility in Clinton, formerly of Boonville passed away on Friday December 24, 2010 at the nursing home. Rose was born in Utica on October 3, 1912 the daughter of Fred and Rose (Martz) Keuerleber. She was raised in Utica and attended Utica Free Academy. On August 31, 1935, Rose married Charles (Red) Cowburn at St. Joseph Church in Utica, a devoted union of 42 years until Charles' death in 1977. She was employed with Mender's food Market and later with Chanatry's Super Market. Rose was a member of the Boonville Senior Citizens and past parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church in Utica. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting and cooking. Mrs. Cowburn is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Metzger of Rome, NY, Sharon LaBuz of Munnsville, NY and Roscelia (Sunny) and Jude Palczynski of Boonville, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Judith Cowburn of New Providence, NJ; 10 beloved grandchildren, Alysse Turner, Derek Cowburn, Richard Metzger, Kenneth Metzger, Timothy Metzger, Jeremiah Palczynski, Noah Palczynski, Tirzah Palczynski-Catz, Jon LaBuz and Andrew LaBuz; 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Andrew LaBuz. sister, Mildred Coyne and brother, George Keuerleber. Mrs. Cowburn's funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Chapel at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 at Our Savior Chapel prior to the funeral.
