, Joseph D. Harder, 80, of Marcy passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the St. Luke's Home. Joseph was born in Utica on June 4, 1936, a son of Albert D. and Agnes Irene (Murphy) Harder. He was the owner/operator of the Harder Insurance Co. in Marcy, NY. Joseph was a member of the Board of Visitors for NYS Dept. of Mental Health, the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill and a senior member for over 50 years of the local AA. He was of the Catholic faith. Joseph is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Carol Green, his six children, Daniel Harder, Utica, Kevin Harder and his wife, Loretta, GA, Timothy Harder and his wife, Barbara, MA. Theresa and her husband, Phil Smith, Utica, James Harder, Yorkville, and Christine and her husband, Christopher Constable, Clyde, NY, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a sister, Marie Almagno and husband, Ronald, three brothers, John Harder, New York Mills, James Harder, Utica and Daniel and his wife Margaret Harder, New York City, a sister-in-law, Jane Harder, NJ, and his former wife, Nancy Harder. He was predeceased by brother, Vincent Harder. Mr. Harder's funeral will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday (today) from 4-7.
