William E. Hickey, 79, of Clark Mills, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his home. Bill was born September 15, 1931 in Utica, the son of William T. and Rose Hickey. He was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in 1945 and Utica Free Academy in 1949. Bill went on to serve his country with the US Air Force during the Korean War. He later became the chief mechanic for the Utica Police Department, retiring in 1996 after 33 years. In 1964, Bill married Christa Heintz, and shared a union of 46 years. Mrs. Hickey had just passed away on October 9, 2010. Bill was of the Catholic faith. Bill is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Carlos Soto, VA; three sons, William G. Hickey, Herkimer, Brian Hickey and his fiancee, Tammy Worden, Utica, Edward Hickey and his companion, Shelley Johnson, Clark Mills. Also surviving are five grandchildren. Besides his wife, Bill is predeceased by a sister, Doris Trinten. Mr. Hickey's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, North Utica, will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
