Mr. Rock J. Schneider, Sr., 82, of Holland Patent, NY, formerly of Marcy passed away on Sunday July 25, 2010 at the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford. Rock was born in Holland Patent, NY on November 22, 1927 the son of Rock and Zolide (Charboneau) Schneider and received his education in Utica schools. He honorably served in the US Army Air Force and later the US Navy during the Korean War. On July 25, 1950 Rock married Beverly Jane Harvey at St. Joseph's Church in Utica, a devoted union of 34 years until Beverly's death in 1984. On January 4, 1985 he married Mary Kelly Chruscicki at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica. For many years he was employed as a federal inspector with DECAS at General Electric Company retiring in 1983. He was also at one time the owner and operator of Riverside Pools in Marcy, a business he tirelessly built with his own hands. Rock was a member of American Legion Leon R. Roberts Post 161, Holland Patent, Knights of Columbus Utica council 189, was a member and past president of the Lions Club in Deerfield and member and past president of The Marcy Chamber of Commerce. He was of the Catholic faith and regularly attended Mass at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica and St. Leo's Church in Holland Patent. Rock was an avid hunter, fisherman and was a handyman who could build anything. Mr. Schneider is survived by his beloved wife Mary; his son and daughter-in-law, Rock J., Jr. and Jeanne Schneider of Marcy; three grandchildren, Rock J., III and Erica Schneider of Whitesboro, Allison Schneider of VA and Craig Schneider of VA; two great grandchildren, Collin and Liyah Schneider; eight sisters and fiver brothers-in-law, Margaret and Ray Greco of FL, Evelyn DiPiero of Utica, Jeannette Simpson of Utica, Yvonne and Charles Thompson of Utica, Edna and Louis Nadia of Fl, Diane Kowal of Watertown, Marilyn and Ray Crossley of Utica and Linda and Eddie Kloster of Whitesboro; sister-in-law, Alice Schneider of Whitesboro; four step-children, Stephen Chruscicki and his wife Rosemary of Marcy, Andrew Chruscicki and his wife Heidi of Boonville, Mary Carol Chruscicki of Sauquoit and Diane Chruscicki and Bill Marshall of New Hartford; eight step grandchildren, Lexey, Stephen, Amanda, Hunter, Carlen, Carson Mary, Andrew and Ashley Chruscicki and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Schneider in 1989, sister Fleurette Thompson and brother Adolph Schneider. Mr. Schneider's funeral will be held on Thursday July 29, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Mr. Schneider's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff on Barton East at the St. Luke's Home for the Wonderful care and compassion given to Rock during his time there.
